Avoid piecemeal papers. Sometimes called “layer caking,” these papers include a series of series of direct quotations separated by and held together by small amounts of original narrative.
Do not overuse verbatim excerpts and direct quotations. This could make readers and/or the evaluator skeptical of the originality of the overall work.
Remember, using words, photographs, graphics, music or any other original materials created by others without identifying the source is called plagiarism and often is illegal.
